Summer University organized by KRE

With the title “Society, state and culture in Central Europe” Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary, in cooperation with the University of Szeged, is organizing a Summer University providing social science courses for the youth in Central Europe between July 3-9, 2022.

The students of the five-day English-language summer university - which will be held in Szeged and Budapest - can take part in lectures and podium discussions, during which domestic and foreign lecturers will have a wide-ranging exchange of views about:

  • The specific features of the relationship between society and the state, as well as the role of those organizations - state, church, social - that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of this relationship, and also assist the performance of social tasks;
  • Cultural diversity, the protection of cultural identity and heritage in Central Europe, and the role of the State in these fields.

In addition, the students at the Summer University have the opportunity to prepare a report by joining the podium discussions, in order to further discuss the topics of the program.

Students with an active status at any university can apply from all over the world.
Participation fee: 150 EUR (traveling costs is not funded by the university)

Participation is free of charge for the first 25-25 applicants from KRE and SZTE.

Within the framework of the Summer University, the participants can get acquainted with the culture of Hungary, the capital often referenced as the Pearl of Europe, and the sights of the southern Great Plain city of Szeged, where the applicants can also visit one of the most important open-air exhibition and memorial in Hungary, the National Historical Memorial Park in Ópusztaszer.
