Remembrance of the 1956 Revolution

An open-air photo exhibition entitled Hope and Drama. Hungary '56, will be on display between 22 October and 27 November 2022 in the garden of the Hungarian National Museum to commemorate the sixty-sixth anniversary of the 1956 Revolution and War of Independence.

Irish Ambassador Ronan Gargan visits KRE

Irish Ambassador Ronan Gargan visited the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences on 19 October 2022. He first consulted with Dr. habil. Géza Horváth, Dean for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and then with Dr. Judit Nagy, Vice-Dean for International Affairs at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He then opened the 'International Joyce' exhibition in the Dózsa György Út building.

Károli Community Days (Autumn Training Week)

The Károli Community Days will take place at our university from 24-28 October 2022. The theme of this semester’s Training Week will be Community Building.

Highlights of the Academic Year 2022/2023

The beginning of the 2022/2023 academic year brought many innovations among which we would like to point out some that might be of interest to our international students. Over the summer the university staff worked hard to improve the institution before the start of the next academic year.

Working in Hungary – Student Edition

The Career Office of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences issued a publication on student jobs in Budapest. In the publication, they logically explain getting a student job as a university student from the first step in merely 15 pages with colourful charts and pictures.

Start of the Academic Year 2022/2023

On 5 September the University opened the 2022/2023 Academic Year with an Orientation Week for international students. The orientation of exchange and full-time scholarship holders were held separately, after which all students could join the afternoon programs regardless their study programs.

The latest Autumn 2022 issue of the University’s official student magazine, in a new look, is now available in the faculty buildings’ communal areas and online among our publications.

The newly renovated building of the Faculty of Theology on Ráday Street has re-opened its doors

In 2019, the Reformed dormitory in the 9th District, on the plot of the Dunamellék Reformed Church District bordered by Ráday Street, Köztelek Street, Markusovszky Square, and Biblia Street, burned down under tragic circumstances. In its place, on the side facing Markusovszky Square, the new dormitory wing has now been completed, but in addition, the central building bordered by Ráday Street and Köztelek Street, acquired in 1912, has also been completely remodelled. In the renewed headquarters building, the bishop's office can be found at 28 Ráday Street and the Faculty of Theology of the Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church can be approached from Köztelek Street.

Syrian Reformed Church leaders visit Károli

Upon the invitation of the Reformed Church in Hungary, Mr. Haroutune Selimian, President of the Armenian Evangelical Community of Syria and Mr Joseph Kassab, General Secretary of the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon (NESSL) visited Hungary on 8-12 October 2018.

Japanese guests at Károli

Representatives of Josai International University and Josai University Educational Corporation visited Károli on 5 October.

Korean university delegation visits Károli

A high-level delegation from Dongguk University (Seoul, South Korea), led by its President, Professor Tae Sik Han visited Károli on 1 October. The visit was the first ever personal contact between senior officials of the two universities after a Memorandum of Understanding was jointly elaborated in June.

Visit to Canada

A joint delegation of the Reformed Church in Hungary, represented by Counsellor of the Synod, Mr András László Gér, and Károli Gáspár University, represented by Secretary General Dr Gyula Balázs Csáki-Hatalovics and Director of International Relations Mr Gyula Sümeghy visited The King’s University in Edmonton, Canada on 19-24 September 2017.

High level Chinese delegation visits Károli

On 10 October 2016, a six-member delegation of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) led by Professor Zengyi Xie, visited Károli Gáspár University.

Conference on Ethical Economic Thinking and Competitiveness

The Ethical Economic Thinking and Competitiveness Conference organised by Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary took place in Budapest on 15 October 2015.

After the opening words of Rector of the University Professor Péter Balla, the plenary session of the conference began with the lectures of Dr. György Matolcsy, President of the Hungarian National Bank and László Domokos, President of the State Audit Office of Hungary. The event continued with the presentations of two international guest lecturers: Professor Jacques Jaussaud from the University of Pau in France and Dr. Johan Graafland, economist and theologian professor of Tilburg University in the Netherlands shared their views on the relationship between economy and law.


The plenary session ended with a roundtable discussion with the participation of Professor Péter Halmai (University of Pannonia), Professor Csaba Lentner (National University of Public Service), Professor Péter Miskolczi Bodnár (Károli University), Professor Zoltán Zéman (Szent István University) and Professor József Zsengellér (Károli University). In the afternoon six sections provided participants the opportunity for professional debate and for the presentation of fresh scientific achievements.


The long-term goal of Károli University with this conference, which attracted significant professional interest, is to launch a series of international conferences that deal with the complex relationship of ethics, economics and law and provide an opportunity to share national and international experiences.

Workshop on Education in Central Europe

The workshop attended by recognised teacher trainers from Central Europe took place at Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary on October 26-27th 2015. The event was organised on the initiative of Director Dr. Edit Bodonyi and the Teaching and Psychological Development Groups of the Teacher Training Centre of the University.

The main objective of the event was to learn about each other’s pedagogical practices and methods and to discuss the possible ways of future cooperation among the participating universities.

The pedagogical experts gave an account of the latest issues and problems in the field of pedagogy, explored the different educational and teacher training systems in Central Europe and compared the different teacher training methods in use in their home countries.

Cooperation Agreement signed in Beregszász

On May 21, 2015, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Dr. Enikő Sepsi and the leadership of the Rákóczi Ferenc II. Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute – Rector of the Institute Dr. József Szikura and President Dr. Ildikó Orosz – signed a cooperation agreement in Beregszász. Based on the agreement, the Institute will provide location and administrative background for the mental hygiene specialist postgraduate programme of KRE, thus enabling the launching of the programme at a third transborder location in September 2015. 


The Doctoral School of the Faculty of Law of KRE is organizing a conference for PhD students with the participation of foreign PhD students to provide an opportunity for the presentation of the latest research results.
