Committees and Persons Proceeding in Student Administration

The following bodies and persons shall proceed in study and student administration matters:
• Study Committee
• Credit Transfer Committee
• Appeal Committee
• Dean
• • Vice-dean for Academic Affairs
• Head of the Registrar’s / Dean’s Office

The vice-dean for education and the head of the Registrar’s Office may proceed under the competence delegated to them by the Study Committee or by the dean.

Study Committee
It is a permanent committee set up by the Senate for the administration of study, examination and social affairs of the students. The Study Committee has subcommittees at faculty level. The competent subcommittee shall act in the study, examination and social affairs of the students.

In all study, examination and social matters which are not referred to the competence of another body or person by law or by regulations the competent subcommittee of the Study Committee is the proceeding body at first instance.

The Study Committee works according to its rules of procedure drawn up in compliance with the Academic and Exam Regulation of the Organisational and Operational Rules.

Credit Transfer Committee
For the coordination of credit transfers and the examination of the equivalence of the subject materials a credit transfer committee is operating at each faculty. The vice-dean for academic affairs is the chairperson of the committee, its members are elected from among the lecturers holding academic qualifications (professors, associate professors) by the Faculty Council so that all programmes are represented in the committee. The head of the Registrar’s Office is one of the members of the committee.

The credit transfer procedure is carried out upon request of the student.

Appeal Committee

Any decision or measure of the higher education institution, or its failure to act shall be subject to appeal. The Appeal Committee elected by the Senate may issue second instance decisions in these matters. Its members are entrusted by the rector. The appeal addressed to the Rector shall be submitted to the dean of the Faculty.

Legal Remedy
Student have the right to seek legal remedy against a decision or measure of the university, or against its failure to act, with the exception of the evaluation of study requirements or decisions made by dean’s equity in compliance with the Academic and Exam Regulation, Student Requirement System.

In case of legal remedy, students may act personally or by proxy (6:11. § and 6:15. § of the Civil Code). Student may submit an appeal against the decision within 15 days after notification. The application has a suspensive effect. The 6-member Appeal Committee designated by the Rector shall decide on the application.
