Károli Christian Scholarship
Scholarships for students admitted to the university within the Hungarian centralised admission procedure
Károli scholarship
Károli scholarship is open to full-time, self-funded students enrolled in Bachelor, Master or single-cycle programmes who indicated our University as their first preference during the Hungarian centralized higher education admission procedure. The scholarship is awarded in each semester. The amount of the scholarship can be
• 50 percent of the tuition fee (up to 30% of the scholarship fund)
• 25 percent of the tuition fee (up to 70% of the scholarship fund)
Károli Excellence Scholarship
The scholarship is available for first-year students who successfully participated in the Hungarian secondary school (high school) competitions.
The amount of the scholarship is HUF 40,000 per month for the period of the first two semesters.
Who may apply for the scholarship?
1. The applicant should indicate the University as his / her first preference in the application for entry during the Hungarian admission procedure, and should be admitted to one of the full-time, state-supported or self-funded Bachelor or single-cycle long programmes.
2. The applicant should successfully complete one of the following Hungarian secondary-school competitions. The best achievements in the study competitions may result in extra scores during the application procedure provided that the subject of the completion is one of the entry subjects. The scholarship can be granted only for students who got the extra scores during the admission procedure.

Reformed Christian Scholarship
In accordance with the objectives of the Reformed Church in Hungary the University established a Reformed Christian scholarship in order to help young Reformed individuals during their university studies. Applications may be submitted by Reformed students who are committed to their faith, who are active members of their congregation, and who have just started their studies in a secular programme of the university, either in a full-time Bachelor programme or in a full-time or part-time Master or single-cycle programme.
The scholarship is awarded for a period of one academic year in the amount of HUF 50,000 per month. Annually 50 Master Students and 200 Bachelor students, and those studying in single-cycle long programmes, respectively are eligible for the Reformed scholarship.
Eötvös Károly Scholarship (available for students at the Faculty of Law)
This scholarship programme is available not only for full-time, but also for part-time students studying at the Faculty of Law. The scholarship is awarded to students who have indicated the faculty as their first preference and have achieved high admission scores during the Hungarian admission procedure. With the scholarship the Faculty of Law provides an opportunity for students to reduce the costs of their studies.
Grants based on social needs (available only for students funded through Hungarian state scholarship)
• Basic grants based on social needs
Students admitted for the first time to a full-time tertiary vocational programme, Bachelor or Master programme, or single-cycle programme are entitled to apply for a basic grant based on social needs provided that they can certify their eligibility. The amount of the basic grant is 50% of the normative funding for students.
• Regular grants on social needs
The regular social grant is a monthly allowance for a study period based on the student’s social situation which must be certified by the requested documents.
• Exceptional grants based on social needs
The exceptional social grant is a one-time benefit paid to alleviate the unexpected deterioration of the student’s social situation which must be certified by the requested documents.
• Additional grants based on social needs
In addition to regular and extraordinary social grants our University offers additional grants for disadvantaged students.
Bursa Hungarica Municipal Higher Education Grants (available also for self-funded students)
This financial support is provided by local and county governments for students who live (have a permanent address) in a municipality or county belonging to them and who are eligible for the grant based on their social situation.
Study grant (available only for students funded through Hungarian state scholarship)
The study grant or scholarship is awarded for 5 months once a semester. The best 50% of the students may get the study grant on basis of their academic results.
National Higher Education Scholarship
Students studying in full-time Bachelor, Master or single-cycle long programmes may apply for the National Higher Education Scholarship. It is awarded for a full academic year (10 months) in the sum of HUF 40,000 per month (one tenth of the amount specified in Article 114/D (1) of Act CCIV of 2011 on National Higher Education). The number of students eligible for the scholarship is 0,8% of the number of students taking part in full-time Bachelor, Master or single-cycle programmes funded through Hungarian state scholarship, calculated on basis of the statistical headcount of 15 October in the previous year, but at least 1 student per institution. At our university 25 students may receive the National Higher Education Scholarship.
The institution’s professional, scientific and public life grant
Full-time students participating in tertiary vocational trainings, Bachelor, Master, PhD or single-cycle long programmes may apply for the grant on basis of their outstanding professional, scientific, cultural and sports achievements, and public life activities. It is awarded for one semester on a monthly basis or as a one-off disbursement.
Support for Sport Activities
The call for application is open to full-time students who are playing competitive sports activities at the university, or who have achieved national or international sports results thus contributing to the success and development of sports. All who have outstanding sports results in addition to their academic achievements and have completed at least one semester may apply for the scholarship which is awarded for a study term (5 month).
The applications can be submitted in Neptun Education Administration System.
