Department of Modern Hungarian Literature, Comparative Literature and Literary Theory

The recently reorganised Department of Modern Hungarian Literature, Comparative Literature and Literary Theory belongs to the Institute of Hungarian Linguistic, Literary and Cultural Studies. Based on 20th century Hungarian literature, Comparative and Cultural studies, it gives a wide panorama of the latest theoretical approaches and provides students with a solid knowledge of the different basic literary theories preceding recent research.

One of the most important goals of the department is to point out parallel phenomena in modern Hungarian and European literature in order to make connections and differences perceptible and to enhance intercultural communication.

Our teaching staff is among the most remarkable in the country, according to the professional consensus. The department has numerous domestic and international connections.
