Orientation Week for New Exchange Students (7-11 February)

The Orientation Week for the 2021/22 Spring semester took place on 7-11 February. During these days, new international students took part in a variety of activities organized by the International Office and the Student’s Union. Thanks to the fruitful cooperation of all parties, newcomers could feel at ease and home immediately.

From the International Office’s part, the first week was about giving as much information for the participants as needed for the semester’s start. There were presentations about the university’s brief history, practical information about the academic semester and lectures about Hungarian culture and history. Furthermore, internationals were taught some vital Hungarian expressions. Additionally, the Office organized a city tour by bus in the city center, and thus, newcomers became familiar with the host town.

On the other hand, the Student Union organized icebreaker events and get-to-know gatherings. On the first day, with the help of the Buddies they were divided into groups after the Orientation. They played icebreaker games and started to work on their project for the week. They had little time to work on a presentation in smaller groups to present them to each other at the end of the week. The group presentations closed the community events, and students were ready to start their academic semester at our university.

The International Staff are happy to welcome the newcomers and eager to start working with them. Hopefully, the Orientation Week was a great opportunity for the international exchange students to get to know each other informally before the official weekly meetings begin at the faculties.
