University Library Association
In 1999, with the aid of the Library Department of the National Library of Hungary, due to the absence of a central university library, the University Library Association of the Károli Gáspár Reformed University was established. We still operate on these foundations today. Twenty-five years later, after a review of the tasks in 2025, the Rector's No. 10/2025 (XI.13.) order was issued about the libraries’ operation at the Károli Gáspár Reformed University and on the tasks and scope of authority of the University Library Association.

The University Library Association’s main task is to continue the library traditions of the long-standing Reformed colleges such as Sárospatak, Pápa, Debrecen, Nagyenyed and Kolozsvár, and to shape and develop its services in a way that, in addition to pastoral training, it also supports the education and research of other disciplines.
The member libraries of the Association coordinate their collection scope and regulations. They together are building a virtual university library by creating a common database in order to make the more than 100 thousand volumes searchable for readers on a unified interface.
The first important professional task of the Association was the introduction of a common integrated library system which operates based on uniform principles. Keeping pace with research development, the provision of online (subscription) databases later also became an important task, and so did the support of open access publishing, the operation of the university repository (KREPOZIT) and the provision of the possibility of DOI requests were added to the ever-expanding scope of tasks.
