Japan’s newly appointed Ambassador to Hungary paid a visit to our university

On the 3rd of March, His Excellency Tetsuya Kimura, the newly appointed Ambassador of Japan to Hungary, paid an introductory visit to our university. Ambassador Kimura and his delegation were welcomed by Rector László Trócsányi; Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Mózes Csoma; Vice-Dean for International Affairs, Judit Nagy; and International Communications Officer Tamara Judi. The Ambassador was accompanied by First Secretary Takeshi Ozaki, Head of the Cultural and Press Department of the Embassy of Japan, and Attaché Natsuki Shinogi, Advisor to the Political Department. During the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their intention to continue their previously fruitful professional cooperation.

The relationship between Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church and the Embassy of Japan in Hungary dates back more than three decades. Since the establishment of the Department of Japanese Studies 32 years ago, the Embassy has been a committed supporter and partner of the University. The Institute of East Asian Studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is a key and defining centre of Japanese and East Asian studies and education in Hungary. The BA programme in Japanese Studies (within the Oriental Languages and Cultures major) and the MA programme in Japanese Studies have been popular choices among prospective students for years.
