Representing the Faculty of Law of Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary, Prof. Dr. Tóth J. Zoltán, Dean and Head of the Department of Legal Theory, and Dr. Ádám Miklós Balássy, Assistant Professor, participated in the 32nd World Congress of the International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVR), held at Kadir Has University in Istanbul between 28 June and 3 July 2026. The congress was organized under the theme Law in the Face of the Changing Problems of the World.
Bringing together scholars from around the world, the congress explored current issues in legal and social philosophy, including constitutional democracy, the rule of law, artificial intelligence and the law, legal reasoning, human rights, and contemporary jurisprudence. KRE was also represented by Dr. Antal Szerletics, who attended the congress through the Erasmus+ programme of the Ludovika University of Public Service.
As part of the scientific programme, Prof. Dr. Tóth J. Zoltán presented his paper, The Constitution as a Text: Methods of Constitutional Reasoning in Central Europe, examining the distinctive features of constitutional interpretation and legal reasoning. Dr. Ádám Miklós Balássy delivered his presentation, One Law to Rule Us All, focusing on the role of soft law and the practical normative effects of different legal instruments within the Hungarian legal system.
During their stay, the KRE delegation also visited the Faculty of Law of Kadir Has University, where they held discussions on future academic cooperation. The meeting concluded with an agreement to begin preparations for an Erasmus+ partnership and to develop staff and student exchange programmes, further strengthening the international ties between the two institutions.
