On 2 September 2026, Károli Gáspár University hosted Károli Japan Day in cooperation with the Japan Foundation Budapest, bringing Japanese culture to life on campus.
Students and visitors could experience a taste of Japan through traditional games and activities, including matcha preparation, origami shuriken making and samurai-themed activities, all in an authentic matsuri atmosphere.
The event was also attended by H.E. Tetsuya Kimura, Ambassador of Japan to Hungary, who joined the activities and tried several of the games himself.
Prior to the event, the leadership of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences welcomed Ambassador Kimura at the university.
The Japan Day attracted many students and visitors and provided a lively opportunity to discover Japanese culture through interactive experiences and community engagement.
