We warmly invite all interested students to take part in the Michiel de Ruyter Memorial Sailing Regatta, to be held on 28 October 2026! The regatta will take place in Balatonszemes, on the waters of Lake Balaton in front of the BAHART Marina in Balatonszemes.
Scheduled start: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 28 October 2026.
If weather conditions prevent the regatta from being held on that day, the reserve date will be 29 October 2026.
The University will provide Sudár Regatta-class sailing boats for the event. No previous sailing experience is required, as each boat will be helmed by an experienced skipper.
The regatta is intended to be a friendly event, and no protests may be lodged. We therefore ask all participants to pay particular attention to the safety and well-being of others.
Due to the cold water temperatures typical of this time of year, only the basic sail configuration (mainsail and jib) may be used; downwind sails will not be permitted.
The aim of the event is to promote sailing within the University community and to encourage students to discover and enjoy water sports.
The University will provide accommodation and meals at the SDG Hotel in Balatonszárszó, starting from the evening of 27 October, as well as meals in Balatonszemes following the regatta.
On the morning of the event, we will travel together by train from Balatonszárszó to Balatonszemes. The journey takes approximately 5 minutes.
If the regatta can only be held on 29 October, accommodation and meals will be provided for both days.
Group travel to Balatonszárszó will be organised for 27 October, although participants may also choose to travel there individually.
We welcome registrations of up to five participants per boat. The participation of four boats is already guaranteed; however, depending on the number of applicants, additional boats can be made available, with practically no upper limit on the number of boats.
