Show us Hungary through your eyes!
Károli Gáspár University invites international students to take part in our photography competition and share the places, moments and experiences that have made an impression on you.
You don't need to be a professional photographer to participate. We are looking for authentic, creative and personal perspectives — whether you take your photos with a smartphone or a camera.
Categories
- Károli at First Sight
Capture what Károli means to you — from our historic buildings and beautiful spaces to student life, friends, events or the little details that make Károli special.
- Budapest at First Sight
Show us Budapest through your eyes. Share your favourite views, hidden gems, everyday moments, architecture, nature, city life or anything that made you stop and take a photo.
How to apply
- You may submit up to 3 photographs in each category — up to 6 photographs in total.
- You can take your photographs with a smartphone or a camera.
- Your photographs should be submitted in good quality and sufficiently high resolution, as selected images may be printed and displayed as part of the exhibition.
- The photographs must be your own work.
- Basic editing is allowed, but photographs should not be substantially altered or AI-generated.
- You may enter one or both categories.
How to submit
Please send your photograph(s) to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Please include your name, university programme and the category/categories you are entering in the email.
Please include a short story or a few sentences with each photograph, telling us why you took the photo, what it means to you. These stories may be displayed alongside the photographs in the exhibition.
How will the winners be selected?
The photographs will be evaluated by a professional jury, including
- László Trócsányi, Rector
- Péter Balla, Vice-Rector for International Affairs
- Teodóra Bán, Director-General of Public Relations and Communications
- Gábor Szalai, Head of the International Office
- Mercédesz Flóra Kovács, President of the Student Union (EHÖK)
- Balázs Fekete, KIDA coordinator and alumni
- Vince Varga, President of the Károli Diplomacy Forum
But the jury won't have the final say alone!
There will also be a public online vote, giving the Károli community and our wider audience the opportunity to choose their favourite photographs.
What can you win?
The best photographs will be selected for a special exhibition, giving your work the chance to be seen by the Károli community and beyond.
The winning entries will also receive special prizes.
So grab your phone or camera and show us Hungary through your eyes!
