FilmClub with the Psychology students

A FilmClub took place on 17 November 2022 at Reviczky street 6. The event was led by Szabolcs Gergő Harsányi, professor at the Institute of Psychology. The FilmClub focused on the movie titled “Circle”, an American thriller from 2015 this time. The participants watched the movie as a group, while stopping it from time-to-time for in-depth discussion and analysis of the film. The two main topics of the event were the survival of the individual, and societal roles.

Book Launch – “Paradise from Behind the Iron Curtain” by Miklós Péti

Miklós Péti's monograph “Paradise from Behind the Iron Curtain: Reading translating and staging Milton in Communist Hungary” has been published by UCL Press, London. The book examines in detail how the Hungarian reception evolved during the four decades of communism of the great English poet and politician, John Milton’s lifework.

International Evening at the Faculty of Law

The International Evening took place at the Faculty of Lawon 26 October 2022, during the Károli Community Days. Students of the LL.M. in European and International Business Law, English language programme PhD students and the participants of the Erasmus exchange programme had the opportunity to meet with the Hungarian students of the Faculty. Dean Prof. Dr. Péter Miskolczi-Bodnár gave an opening speech after which the students were greeted by the organizer of the event and the coordinator of the LL.M. programme, Dr Andrea Miklósné Zakar.

Károli Community Weeks 2021/22 Fall Semester

As a tradition at Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary (KRE), the 2021/2022 Fall semester community week was held between 2–5 November. During this week, students of KRE may participate in various programs beginning with making sushi and running in the City Park to listening to interesting lectures either held by professors of KRE or guest lecturers.

Year Opening Ceremony - Scholarship for Christian Young People

On 22 October two of our students had the opportunity to take part of the SCYP Year Opening Ceremony at Páduai Szent Antal Plébánia, Budapest. The event started with a mass, followed by two speeches, beautiful songs – performed by scholarship holders from the University of Pécs – and handing out the awarding diplomas.

New higher education ranking

Hungarian economic weekly magazine „Figyelő” has published its 2021 edition on Hungarian higher education ranking that includes a number of area-specific rankings. According to Figyelő, our Faculty of Law is ranked at the 4th place in the field of legal studies, while the teacher training programme of our Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is the second best in the country.

President of Grace College visited Károli

Dr. William J. Katip, President of Grace College from Indiana, USA visited our university on 18-19 November 2019, to strengthen the cooperation which is based on the student exchange agreement of 2017.

Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme for international students:

New call for applications
Students from 60 countries are eligible to study at Hungarian universities with the support of the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme. Students may choose from over 500 different study programmes provided by 29 Hungarian universities.

Delegation in South Korea

A delegation of Károli Gáspár University represented by Dr. Enikő Sepsi, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Judit Nagy, Vice-Dean for International Affairs and Dr. Gábor Sepsey, Legal and Administrative Director of the Faculty of Humanities visited the following partner institutions with a Christian background in South Korea: Baeksok University, Handong Global University, Keimyung University and Hanshin University.

Károli is 10th best higher education institution

It is our pride that regarding the rankings of the acknowledged Hungarian business weekly magazine, HVG, Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary is the 10th best university in Hungary among 44 institutions in the country.

Károli is Hungary’s 7th best university

The acknowledged Hungarian weekly business paper, HVG, has recently announced its annual academic ranking of institutions of the Hungarian higher education for 2017.

Multiculturalism in Canada 2 Conference

The third Canadian Studies Conference entitled Multiculturalism in Canada 2 took place on November 20th, 2015 at the Faculty of Humanities.

Due to the success and the topicality of last year’s theme, multiculturalism, this year’s Canadian Studies Conference was focusing on the same theme again. Counsellor Michael Horler (Embassy of Canada), Canadian playwright and scriptwriter Jason Sherman, and Judit Molnár (University of Debrecen) delivered the keynote lectures, which were followed by Judit Kádár’s introduction of the Hungarian Network for Canadian Studies. The two parallel sessions held in the afternoon also included presentations by students as the Canada Center of the university finds supporting future Canadianists an important mission.

The traditional teacher training event hosted a presentation by our alumna, Viktória Sipos, who is a part-time lecturer at the Department of English Linguistics, and the workshop of the “Canada in the English Classroom” Research Group of Károli University. The conference was concluded with the screening of one of Jason Sherman’s films, We Were Children and this year, the introduction to the film was presented by Mr. Sherman himself.
