Public Education Conference: Spirituality and Free University

The 10th National Reformed Public Education Conference was held in Berekfürdő from 16 to 18 March 2022. The main topic of the conference in 2022 was reformed education. At the conference, institutional framework and the replacement of congregations were discussed.

Rector Prof. Dr. László Trócsányi in his speech expressed his views on why young people should choose to study at any reformed higher education institutions especially at Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary. In his lecture, he announced the primary task of the university to provide quality education for the students. It is also important to provide safe, welcoming atmosphere and an environment, where it is worthwhile and fulfilling to study. Infrastructural background, dormitories, scholarship programs, interesting and high-quality programs are essential to reach these goals.

The Rector highlighted that shaping the spirit of the University whereas guaranteeing the values of an open university and the harmony of openness are the most important tasks. In his speech, he announced the establishment of the Károli Junior Academy for 11th-graders, which will offer the students training opportunities for credit points on Saturdays. One of the university's key objectives is to provide a framework for the development of promising students and in line with this, Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church will be a sponsor of academic competitions in the future.

In his presentation, Mr. Trócsányi expressed the need to create a common unity with the establishment of the Free University of Károli, where all five faculties would give educational lectures to those interested in the university's mission. He also stressed the importance of the topic of family and Europe, which would be centered in the launching of a Carpathian Basin academic network.
