University Library Association

Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary does not have a Central Library. Therefore in 1999, with the help of the NKÖM Library Department, the Library Association of the Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary was established, which was recorded in a decision of the University Council.

The main task of the University Library Association is to continue the library traditions of long-standing Reformed colleges such as Sárospatak, Pápa, Debrecen, Nagyenyed and Cluj-Napoca, and shape and develop its collection in such a way as to support the training and research of other disciplines.

By creating a common database, the members of the Association build a virtual university library, in order to make the more than 100,000 volumes searchable on a single interface. The member libraries coordinate their collections, as well as their organizational and operational regulations.

The university uses a modern integrated library system called Liberty – see below.

The list of academic texts and referring databases subscribed by the university is updated every year and we made it possible for teachers and students to access them on the university’s computers, and externally via eduID. This development also contributes greatly to the success of research work.
