Cooperation agreement with the Camões - Institute for Cooperation and Language

On December 12, 2022, a three-year cooperation agreement was signed between the Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary (KRE), represented by Rector Prof. Dr. László Trócsányi, and the Camőes - Institute for Cooperation and Language (Camões, I.P.), represented by Jorge Roza de Oliveira, Ambassador of Portugal to Budapest.

Cooperation agreement with the Korean Cultural Centre

On 8 December 2022, a framework cooperation agreement was signed by In Suk Jin, Director of the Korean Cultural Centre, and Prof. Dr. László Trócsányi, Rector of Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary. A brief discussion was held on the possibility of specific cooperation projects, mainly related to Korean language and culture. Project Manager Lee Seunggyeong and Dr. Judit Nagy, Vice-Dean for International Affairs of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, also participated in the discussion. On 25 October 2022, during the Károli Community Days, the Korean Cultural Centre organised a highly successful workshop for Hungarian and international students of our institution that established the visit for the agreement.

International conference commemorating the 800th anniversary of the “Aranybulla”

On 8 November, Brussels hosted the international conference titled: “National constitutional heritage and European integration”, commemorating the 800th anniversary of the adoption of the “Aranybulla,” the Hungarian Magna Charta Libertatum. The event was co organized by Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary, Brussels Office for a Civic Hungary Foundation, and the European Public Law Organization.

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of Japanese-Hungarian diplomatic relations, Hungary received 20.000 books in the framework of the Honno Kote Project from Kogoshima county.

Team of historians wins substantial research grant

A team of historians, led by Professor Beatrix F. Romhányi of the Institute of History at our university has won a grant of HUF 14.2 million (worth of EUR 43,000) from the grant scheme of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office for a research project related to 16th century Franciscan sermon literature. 

Faculty of Law celebrates its 20th anniversary

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of its foundation the Faculty of Law of our university organised a celebratory conference on 4 December 2018. The conference was held in the magnificent building of the Hungarian National Assembly.

Director appointments

Acknowledging their work, Rector of the university Prof Dr Péter Balla appointed two new directors in the Rector’s Office: Mr Miklós Horváth as the Director of Marketing and Mr Gyula Sümeghy as the Director of International Relations.

Károli Gáspár University is among the best universities of Hungary

The Faculty of Law of Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary was ranked first in the category: ‘excellence of professors’ in the prestigious annual higher education ranking of the acknowledged Hungarian weekly business paper, HVG (Weekly Word Economics Magazine). The proportion of professors awarded with academic titles was the highest at the Faculty of Law of the University, compared to the law faculties of other institutions, and the number of students per professor was the lowest here as well.

Jan Peter Balkenende’s guest lecture at the university

Professor Jan Peter Balkenende, the former Prime Minister of the Netherlands, honorary doctor of Károli Gáspár University gave an English-language lecture at the Faculty of Theology under the title: ‘Towards a Sustainable Future: Values-based Entrepreneurship in a Time of Disruptive Change’ on 3 December 2015.

In his lecture, completed by anecdotes and his vast personal experiences, Professor Balkenende expressed his thoughts on the importance of sustainable development, the global challenges and issues our world has to face, the responsibility and social involvement of big companies, the role of universities and on representing Christian values today.

H.E. Gajus Scheltema, the Dutch Ambassador in Hungary attended the lecture as well, along with the Chairman and members of the Netherlands-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce.
