China Day held to celebrate 25 years of Chinese language education at our university

The Institute of Oriental Languages and Cultures organised a China Day on 12th February, the first day of the 2023/2024 spring term. The Chinese Lunar New Year, considered to be the most important Chinese holiday, is the Year of the Wooden Dragon this year, therefore, the programmes were also organised around the dragon symbol. Participants of the event could listen to lectures on the significance of the Year of the Dragon, the cult of the Dragon King, dragons in Chinese medicine and the Dragon Boat Festival, among other topics, by the lecturers from the university's Department of Chinese Studies and invited renowned professionals in the Béla Buda Lecture Hall of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Honorary degree, doctor honoris causa, for His Holiness Karekin II

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary in 2023, the Senate has awarded the degree doctor honoris causa for His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, in recognition of his great achievements in furthering theological education and strengthening ecumenical relationships among Christian denominations and churches. The diploma of the honorary degree was presented to His Holiness on the occasion of the visit of an official delegation in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, led by Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Zsolt Semjén. The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme celebrates its 10th Anniversary

The Hungarian Government established the Stipendium Hungaricum (SH) Scholarship Programme in 2013 to promote the internationalisation of Hungarian higher education and attract top students from all around the world. The SH programme - in which our University has been actively participating since 2016 and so far a total of 44 students have obtained a Károli-degree - celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.
